Customer Reviews
Easy train ride
Needed to get from London to Doncaster for a weekend. I just grabbed an off-peak ticket online, super easy. Got my mobile ticket right away. The train was comfy enough, I managed to get a seat with a table which was good. No drama, got there on time. It was a pretty smooth trip, nothing to complain about, just a normal train journey really. Would use them again if I need to go that way.
Quick trip to Hartlepool
Booked a single ticket to Hartlepool. E-ticket was simple. Train was on time. Seat was fine. No issues.
Fantastic trip to Halifax!
My journey from London to Halifax was great! I booked a first class ticket and it was so comfortable. The onboard catering was excellent, and I even got some quiet carriage time. The staff were all super helpful. The whole experience was just fantastic. I will absolutely use Grand Central Rail again for my next trip up north!
Good value for London trip
I bought an advance single ticket from Sunderland to London Kings Cross. I used my 16-25 Railcard, which gave me a nice discount, making the price really good for such a long journey. The e-ticket worked perfectly. I felt like I got a solid deal and saved a fair bit compared to other options I checked. Worth it for sure.
Decent journey, minor issue
I booked a standard class return ticket from London to York. The booking process online was straightforward, and I got my e-ticket quickly. The train itself was clean, and I appreciated the power sockets. However, the WiFi was a bit spotty during parts of the journey, which was a minor inconvenience as I was trying to work. Overall, a good experience and good value for the price, but the WiFi could be more consistent.

Anyone know if you can use a student railcard on the advance tickets? Or do they only apply to the more expensive flexible ones?
What's the deal with taking bikes on Grand Central? Is it a pain in the butt? Need to reserve a spot or can I just rock up?
Are there power sockets on all the Grand Central trains? Need to get some work done on the way to Doncaster and my laptop battery is trash.
Hey guys, thinking of booking a ticket to Sunderland from London next month. How far in advance do you really need to book to get those super cheap prices? Like, is a few weeks enough or do I need to be checking months out?
Thinking of taking the train instead of driving to Leeds from London. Is Grand Central generally reliable? I've heard horror stories about other operators.
